La scelta del miglior album del 2019 è stata più travagliata del solito; un po' perché il vostro umile blogger ha finito le munizioni e (probabilmente) sta per chiudere bottega, e un po' perché questa annata musicale appena conclusa è stata all'insegna di un buon livello qualitativo generale ma, al contempo, è stata priva di picchi entusiasmanti. Quindi rispetto agli anni precedenti dove avevo le idee più chiare - e le orecchie più libere - è stato più difficile scegliere il Numero Uno del 2019. Alla fine la scelta è caduta sul nuovo mostruoso album dei Mayhem, Daemon, un'autentica bomba per gli appassionati del metallo nero e non solo. Si ha giocato a lungo la prima posizione con i Pop.1280 i Christian Ftness, i Diät e anche con i Grade 2. Alla fine ho scelto i Mayhem perché quest'anno ho ascoltato più black metal che altro e quindi mi è sembrata la decisione più coerente con quanto accadeva nel mio stereo in questi ultimi mesi. Per quanto riguarda i Bestial Mouths, invece, qui non c'è stata alcuna lotta: "Inshroudss" è indubbiamente il miglior EP, il miglior disco a breve durata uscito nel 2019.
In questa Top Ten allargata dove esserci uno spazio anche per l'album dei Tau Cross che invece non è mai nato a causa dei problemi con la Relapse. Per il resto ci sono tanti ospiti fissi di questo blog come i succitati Pop.1280, i Diät, Institute, Zeitgeist, Fukpig, Mark Lanegan, Ritual Howls, Halshug, Dark Blue, Ceremony, Frustration e tanti altri che hanno sempre trovato spazio da queste parti. Non mancano però le novità come i Christian Fitness, Amyl & the Sniffers, Coilguns e un buon numero di altri esordienti in questo spazio.
Come al solito questa classifica è il solito minestrone indigesto che scontenterà un po' tutti, perché nella stessa pagina convivono band punk e hardcore con formazioni post-punk, shoegaze e indie e con dischi di metal estremo con una buona rappresentanza di band storiche e non del circuito black metal (Mayhem, Darkthrone, Mgla etc). Da segnalare alcuni graditi ritorni con album decisamente riusciti come il fantastico "Beneath The Eyre" dei Pixies, la rinascita dei Briefs, il nuovo Gang of Four e "War Music" dei Refused.
